JobCentre Jobsworths
You can't say that Sir !!!

A report in the paper the other day, exposes how deeply PC has infected the Jobcentre.  A gentleman was trying to place and advert for bar staff in a trendy new wine bar that he had just invested in.  He wanted "Lively", Bubbly" and "enthusiastic" people to join his team.

So what ?  Nothing wrong with that.................or is there ?

The lady at the job centre very quickly told him that he could not use the words "Bubbly, lively and enthusiastic" as it would discriminate against people that did not have those personality traits.

What a Petty-fogging jobsworth !!!!

What the hell is going on ?  This is the most ridiculous and incredulous bunkum ever.

So now, we must not advertise that we want people with certain character traits, for fear of upsetting those without.  Oh come one !!!  The reality is that some lazy assed no hoper is very unlikely to get offended by such an advert, in fact, the probably would not be reading it anyway.

TO work in such a lively place, you need to be enthused, energetic, polite.

The paper that reported this also printed a comment from some one senior at the jobcentre, saying that this was an unusual case and that it is not representative of how the job centre works.

2 hours later, in my car, I was listening to Radio 4.  A similar story came on and the presenter made a large number of calls to job centres around the UK.  He was met with exactly the same crap in each of them, and the pathetic excuses the staff used were nothing but an insult to the intelligence of any normal person., so clearly, this is not a one off, it is policy.

The scary thing is, one of the people he spoke to at the job centre (recorded conversations) actually criticised this man for wanting people with these positive traits and suggested he consider less fortunate people who might be lazy and rude.

Yes, I heard this with my own ears and was dumb founded, completely gob-smacked and worried about the future of this country.

God help us, and anyone who has to use the Job Centre.

The upshot is, that being blessed with positive character assets is now politically incorrect.  I bet some air-head Civil Servant dreamt this one up.  Wonder if he/she is positive, lively, energetic, polite ? ..........Nah !
