Dear god, the world has gone mad.

Let's set the scene shall we.  You are sitting in your car in central London on your way home from a hard day at the office.  It is dark and rainy outside, there is a nothing on your mind other than the tasty delights waiting for you at home, and the warmth of your wife's gentle smile.  Suddenly, you door is wrenched open and a hooded thug demands that you get out of your car with a knife at your throat.

You want to resist, you want to say no, you want to drive off in your lovely new Mercedes, but images of two fatherless toddlers flash across your mind and you give in, for the sake of your family.  Yes, you've been car jacked.  But hey, it's a conspicuous car, and the police will no doubt pick it up quickly.

You reach inside you coat, pull out your mobile and dial 999........

"Emergency, which service do you require ?"

"Police please......quickly, I 've been car-jacked at knifepoint! "

"Sorry Sir, all the Police are busy on a training course about not using words like bad egg or nitty-gritty in case it offends the ethnic groups......ahem, you aren't Asian are you sir ?  I don't want to upset you with my foul mouth"

" Yes, I am Asian and the only bloody thing that is upsetting me is that it's late at night, my car has been nicked, I had a knife at my throat and some bloody idiot has decided that run of the mill words that I use every day might bloody upset me because they have racist connotations!   I want a Policeman, there must be one free in London! "

"Please Sir, remain calm, I understand that you are upset, and that it is dark out there.....ooooops....sorry Sir, did I offend you ?"

So, we are told that "nitty-gritty" is a term that used to be used for the bottom part of a slave ship where the bilge was.  we are told that Bad egg refers to coloured in it's ancient history.

PERLEEEEEEEEEZE  The every day copper has enough to worry about without this crap !!  They want to do a good job, well, most of them, but when faced with this onslaught of PC bullshit, it makes it very difficult for them to focus on the task of fighting crime, as they are too busy thinking about what they can and can't say !!!!
