Manslaughter by neglect

If you or I watched an allowed a little girl of 13 months to be abused to death, we would be responsible for aiding and abetting murder, or individually, for  reckless manslaughter.  Yes the
SS can get away with it by simply sacking the individual who was assigned to the case and lie is the Coroners Court, cover up and destroy evidence.

Our stories usually focus on and criticise the SS for their abhorrent interfering and twisting of truth when it comes to family law type issues, or the care of children, and there may be many SS dept's reading this thinking !We can't win", first they want us to keep our noses out, then they criticise us for stinking them in.

Well, the fact is, we are now criticising them for lack of good judgement, which prevails in just about every case that we highlight here.

There is a balance between interfering and intervening.  This story clearly demonstrates how that ecology is misaligned.

A little girl, Sophie Casey had been taken to hospital twice in the months leading up to her death.  The particulars of the story are disturbing for any loving adult and parent.

The first visit was for a fractured skull and at the same time a piece of decaying, festering sponge was found lodged in her nostril.

The second time, she had been force fed a mixture of cheesecake, weetabix and ice-cream by her stepfather.

The little girl died at home, where she lived with her mother, Emma Casey and her partner.  The little girl's mouth, eyes and nose were covered with vomit.

Terence Carney, the Coroner, said that the SS lack of involvement amounted to total and complete neglect, and recorded a verdict of Death by misadventure, contributed to by neglect.

Now, the treatment at the hands of her stepfather was wilful and contrived.  The neglect shown by the SS, a Mr David Potts was reckless, bordering on criminal.  We say that his employers have not done enough about this.  Simply sacking Potts and nothing else is a further compound failure on their part.

If this was a business, the Executives would be held criminally responsible.  Did you know that there is a law in this country that protects civil servants from responsibility for their actions in the execution of their work ?  Well,  if not, it is true.  What is also unknown is that a European law exists that counter acts  this and these people are responsible, both criminally, and now, they are open to litigation for their actions too.  In other words, the days of them being unaccountable, have gone.  It just needs some one to take them to task in the European Courts.  Perhaps the nearest kin, other than the abusers might want to do this.  Some one should.

So, what now ?  Potty Potts, who forgot to hand over the case file before he went on sick leave, which then lead to a sequence of events culminating in this Childs death, has got away scot free.  You can't call loosing his job any sort of punishment when measured against this girls life.

The SS  use their usual waffle to exonerate themselves from any responsibility by saying " We have learned lessons from this tragedy"  They have two other similar phrases that are used when the light is shone in their direction,

                                   (a) We are currently reviewing our policies

                                   (b) There are lessons to be learned from this

Not enough !!   There is a conspiracy of silence in the murky underworld of the SS, and we strongly suggest that the Police should be brought in to investigate the fact that Potts's colleagues were concerned about his abilities, but did nothing.  This amounts to guilt by neglect and dereliction of duty.  Still, it's only one more little girl

We will ask South Tyneside Council if they are prepared to request a Criminal investigation into their SS dept's activities in relation to this case.  Let's see what sort of response we get

More as this story unfolds

Lies, deceit and cover up by SS

David Potts, the criminally negligent social worker refuses to attend the child's inquest to answer the Coroners questions because he says it would be too "Stressful".  You spawny-eyed parrot faced little wazzok Potts !!  What sort of stress do you think the rest of this family is suffering from due to your total disregard fro your obligations.  So you had a poorly eye.  Damn you man, some of us work no matter what is wrong, and when a child's life hangs in the balance, a little thing like a runny eye should not prevent you from executing your duty.

The SS received no less than three referrals for this little girl, and still she was allowed to die.

South Tyneside SS even hid essential information from the Coroner  in order to cover up for themselves.  Their very own Mr Martin was apparently unable to say why certain important information was erased from this child's file.  We know why Mr Coroner, because this despicable SS dept is like most others.  They screw up and then lie and cheat their way out of trouble, even going as far as hiding facts from the Coroners Court.  How dare they !!!

Unbelievably, Potts appealed against his sacking.  What sort of human being is this ?  Sadly, he is very typical of the type of person that joins the SS.  It's never his fault, it's always someone else.

His boss, Trevor Doughty, who has kept his job is also very good at passing the book.  He says that the level of care offered to 13 month old Sophie was "sub-standard".  You double-lobotomised simpleton Doughty.  It was not substandard, it was criminally negligent, and you are responsible.

Not only should the Police arrest the mother and father, they should also arrest Potts and Doughty for aiding and abetting this dreadful crime.

This is manslaughter, and this is perjury.  If you or I did it, we would be locked up.  The SS do it and they simply get away with it in a flurry of crass statements. (see above)

In fact, see what Doughty says :-

Mr Doughty said: "This is a tragedy and the department and myself are extremely sorry about the death. The important thing is to learn lessons and to do everything possible from preventing it happening in the future.

Our email to South Tyneside Council

We are running an article on the failure of your Social Services department in relation to the death of Sophie Casey.

We specifically invite comments from Paul Waggot and, john Temple and ask if your council has requested a criminal investigation by the police into the matter of wilful neglect and corporate manslaughter, as would be the case if this was a company or individual.

This story and your comments, or lack of them will be posted on Blundering News which can be found at www.blunderingsocialworkers.co.uk

Thank you
